Natural attractions

Bellville is home to a number of nature reserves where you can explore the Western Cape's impressive fauna and flora. Tygerberg Nature Reserve is the largest, spanning 388 hectares of natural beauty and offering magnificent views. It has 562 different plant species and a vast diversity of animal species.

The University of Western Cape has its own nature reserve of 30 hectares, and Jack Muller Park is also a great place for biodiversity.

Many wine routes and beaches are also within close distance to the suburb.

The retail heart of Tygerberg is the Tyger Valley Shopping Centre, which boasts 275 shops, a banking centre, medical and dental facilities, a 10-cinema complex and a large entertainment arena. It is the leading regional shopping destination in the Northern Suburbs and it offers a wide range of entertainment and services that attract visitors from all around.

Opposite the Tyger Valley Shopping centre is the Willowbridge Shopping Centre, which has a modern open-air design with 90 shops and 13 restaurants. The mall also hosts the Barnyard Theatre, which puts on productions including plays and musicals, live bands and special circus productions.

The High Street shopping complex offers a more intimate shopping experience with its village-style atmosphere of landscaped gardens, water features and piazza-style ambiance. Edward Street is a top destination for evening entertainment, with many popular clubs and restaurants.

Close by is GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World, the largest entertainment destination in South Africa and the only casino in Cape Town.
