Many of the Cape Winelands' top wine estates are just a short drive from Brackenfell. In the impressive Tygerberg hills is the Durbanville wine route, with several estates. The oldest wine route in the country is in Stellenbosch and within easy reach, as well as the routes of Helderberg and Paarl.

Brackenfell boasts the Bracken Nature Reserve, which is an ideal place to explore the impressive natural surroundings of the area. The protected area preserves threatened fynbos and vegetation, and is home to a range of small mammals, reptiles and amphibians, and a variety of bird species. Koopmanskloof Private Nature Reserve, which is also a working wine estate, is in the Bottelary Hills in Stellenbosch and is a great place for hiking and enjoying nature.

Shopping

Brackenfell is not short of places to shop. In the suburb itself there is the Capegate Regional Shopping Centre, with over 160 shops and a range of family-friendly entertainment, and the Fairbridge Mall. In nearby Durbanville there is the Tyger Valley Mall and Willowbridge Shopping Centre, an open-air shopping centre. Ipic Shopping Centre Soneike is just around the corner in Kuilsrivier.

The largest mall in Cape Town, Canal Walk Shopping Centre, is within easy access of Brackenfell and boasts an impressive 400 shops.
